As an industry migrates from infancy through adolescence into maturity, natural transformations are inevitable. The “Water Damage” or
“Structural Drying” industry, I believe is at this crossroad. The professionals involved in our industry are really environmental control specialists.

Controlling the project environment is imperative if we want success in providing cost effective/efficient drying of the structure. Without
this component chances of a predictable outcome are diminished.

With all the advances in understanding the building structure and vapor migration throughout, we still price our services as if we don’t really
understand what it’s going to take and how to best accomplish the task. It is no surprise that the participants who are funding the drying process
look askance and bewildered when presented with the drying bill. I have reviewed many bills and documentation in my time and I’ve
come to believe “he who is the most in-efficient makes the most money”.

In what other profession could this be deemed appropriate?

The current model of pricing refers to a list of items and a claim “we will charge you and we promise we will try to be as efficient as possible”.
That may or may not be the case with many restorers, partially due to lack of knowledge, complacency or plain ignorance. If order to deflect
or answer many of the funding mechanism questions, our industry decided to inundate them with data: temperature readings, moisture readings, humidity readings (including specific humidity and absolute humidity) and other information we deemed appropriate. We then coupled this data into a fancy package and said “Here you go aren’t we professionals?”

How did we get to this place?

The relative ease or entrée into this industry can be attained with minimal investment of capital and small amount of educational time (if even spent at all). Do you really believe any of the funding mechanisms care if you are using SOA, the new BFD 3400 or the DRI-High 7000? The answer is absolutely not. I am quite certain that someday we will be able to “microwave” a structure dry in 1 hour; cost is only 75K per use. The alternative was 23% of that, I had purchased the equipment and we need to re-coop the expenditure or even worse some 3rd party told me what and how to charge and I am doing so.

Where is the professional responsibility?
In the coming weeks, exploration of the transformations, I believe are needed and warranted, will be examined. This commentary will critique
many of the long held dogmas and beliefs that have prevailed. It will inflame some and encourage others. The ultimate goal is to start down
the path, where professionals flourish and the untrained get better or dissolve. It should be an interesting ride.

Contractors need a Water Out Drying Trailer

Water Out contractors stand out from the crowd because they have more tools and methods to handle a water loss. Sometimes a water loss is a simple matter that can be handled with the simplest tools. When dehumidifiers and fans are the right solution that is what we use.

When water losses get larger or time is important, the standard Water Out Drying Trailer is the right answer. Saving building materials and contents will greatly reduce the overall claim. Carpet and pad, drywall and valuable contents can be dried and returned to pre-loss condition if immediate action is taken. Operating from a single 115-volt outlet, this “Convectant” dryer will dry over 100 pounds of water per hour. Quiet, and easy to deliver and set up, Water Out will save thousands of dollars in replacement and reconstruction costs. This is the most cost-effective tool for medium to large losses.

Water Out will control the cost of water restoration and provide the service your clients expect.

The costs associated with covered losses have spiraled out of control over the past decade. The emergence of mold as a covered loss can turn a simple water loss into a financial disaster. Another fact of which the insurers may not be aware, is that thousands of new water restoration contractors are turned out every year after only a two day certification course.

Water Out and the growing number of expert contractors that use the patented equipment are providing insurance companies with the relief that they need. Lower restoration costs and satisfied customers. How can Water Out deliver what other contractors only promise? It is simple; we use the best equipment to dry a flooded building. The faster a building gets dry the lower the final cost.

Water Out technology is patented and our trained and expert restoration contractors are licensed to use the name and equipment. Unlike desiccant and refrigerant dehumidifiers that were invented over fifty years ago, Water Out is a new, patented technology in drying. Water Out is designed to handle your problems TODAY! Faster, more complete drying at a lower cost.

In a recent test done by an industry certified test facility the findings were: “Conclusion: The over all results show an outstanding method of drying achieving better results with regard to time, mould, and secondary damage prevention than any previously tested system using either conventional desiccants or refrigerant dehumidifiers.” (National Flood School, Water Out Test, 4 June 2003).

Water Out offers you an opportunity to see our new technology first hand. Arrange for our Drying Academy to visit your location and demonstrate the effectiveness of our drying techniques!

There is no time to waste when your business or workplace becomes flooded. Statistics prove that the longer a business stays closed the less likely it will successfully reopen. Now is the time to call in the experts: Water Out. You need the drying capacity that only Water Out can provide. The drying capacity of a single Water Out trailer is over 100 pounds of water per hour.

Water Out contractors are individual business owners too; they understand your problem and your need for a quick response. Water Out trailers are highly mobile, and with contractors throughout the United States and Canada additional equipment can be quickly mobilized. Portable refrigerant dehumidifiers are not the right choice when your business livelihood is on the line. Act as if your business depends upon the right decision. It does.
